Community Programs and Activities

Our goal is to provide a broad range of programs that meet community and individual needs.

We try to offer programs to cater for everyone from all ages, some examples include:

  • Fitness Training and Walking Groups
  • Eduncational Courses, such as – computer classes, literacy skills or cooking groups
  • Eating With Friends
  • Social Activities, such as – Merv goes to Hollywood, Mah Jong and Chess
  • Art and Craft Activities, such as – Crochet, Dunalley Craft Group, Tasman Art Group
  • Tasman University of the Third Age
  • Accredited Courses (such as First Aid)
  • Parenting Groups, such as – Dunalley Tasman Support Group and regular Playgroups
  • Gardening Programs, such as – DIGnity, Garden Club and other seasonal classes

School Holiday Program

We offer a School Holiday Program for 5 to 12 year old children, during the major holidays each year.

A local bus service provides transport to an activity such as:

  • Swimming at the Hobart Aquatic Centre
  • Movies at Eastlands
  • Bowling in Moonah
  • A day at the beach
  • Woody’s Roller World

 

Special Events

We help to organise annual events in our community such as the Seniors Christmas Lunch in Dunalley.

From time to time we receive funding to arrange special events in the community.

Our buildings in Dunalley and Nubeena offer a range of facilities including;

    • Community Internet Access
    • Photocopying and Faxing
    • Laminating
    • Venue Hire for Service Providers
    • Meeting Room for Community Groups
    • Assistance with Job Applications
    • Grant Application Assistance
    • Noticeboards
    • Parent Resource Library (lending books, equipment and toys)
    • Community Op Shop (Dunalley)
    • Community Gardens

We also host a number of visiting professional health service providers, including Massage Therapists.

Information and Referral

Our centres in Dunalley and Nubeena provide information on local community services and have a range of information available on support services that are available to community members.

If you have any needs or questions that you would like assistance with, please feel free to contact us at any time.

We can also offer assistance to Health Care Card holders with applying for loans under the NILS (No Interest Loans) Scheme, which can provide no interest loans for the purchase of essential household items such as washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, car repairs, school books or other necessary purchases.

How to Find Out More

We produce an annual ‘Regular Program’ with details of activities that happen all year round. Copies are available at each of our buildings as well as from local shops and businesses. We also produce a monthly ‘What’s On’ with details of one-off activities or short courses currently running at the House.
